Linwood College offers a multicultural, inclusive, caring environment in which international students are made very welcome. The College seeks to provide learning pathways to the future. It is ambitious and forward looking, with a curriculum designed to equip students to thrive in the modern world. Co-curricular activities, volunteer service projects and leadership opportunities combine to make Linwood an exciting place to be. Linwood is nationally recognized for its vibrant performing arts and provides first class sporting opportunities. We encourage students to be involved in the school community.
The College is close to the heart of a vibrant re-developing city that has stimulated huge economic investment and international interest for innovation. Also, few locations give such easy access to an amazing variety of scenery. With mountains, rivers and beaches less than an hour from the city, activities like surfing, swimming, cycling, walking, skiing and snowboarding are a big part of the Christchurch lifestyle.

Our relatively low ratio of international students means they are valued for the diversity and contribution they bring to the classroom and school life. We are able to cater to individual student needs with personalized multi-level study programmes based on ability and goals. An English language programme can be included depending on level of English. It may begin with an intensive English course, with transition to mainstream subject classes when ready.
International students have the opportunity to experience our beautiful natural environment and outdoor lifestyle with participation in an adventure programme which is unique in New Zealand.
Beyond secondary school there are excellent opportunities in Christchurch for further study with highly ranked universities, abundant part time work and future career options.
Linwood College has a long history of caring for international students. We can match you to a suitable homestay family where you will be welcomed and included in family activities. Students’ home and school life is well supported by a homestay coordinator, subject teachers, mentor teacher, health and guidance staff as well as a Director of International Students concerned for your needs. Students take part in an orientation programme on arrival to help them settle quickly and easily into life here.
Linwood College has signed and complies with the Ministry of Education’s Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students which may be found at: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/providers-partners/caring-for-international-stud...
