This course emphasises science that provides links to vocational pathways, for example human health, land based industry (horticulture), electronics. Assessment opportunities may be negotiated from across the Science matrix, depending on student interest and opportunity. It also provides a sound foundation of science literacy and capability for students to apply to everyday life.

Prerequisites: A Level 1 Science course is compulsory.  Participation in two Science courses at this level is at the discretion of the Head of Learning Area Ms Mora.

Science for Life is a full year course, of five internally assessed topics, that works towards gaining 20 Level One NCEA credits. 

Students need to gain 12 credits at Level 1 to be eligible for entry into a Level 2 Science course; including 8 literacy credits.
