This Level 3 chemistry course extends the understanding of fundamental chemical concepts developed in Level 2 Chemistry and is designed to provide an opportunity to discuss the impact of chemistry on everyday life. The topics covered expand and extend the concepts introduced in Year 12 Chemistry to provide the understanding necessary for those who intend to study the subject at tertiary level.

Prerequisites: 14 Level 2 Chemistry credits.

Level Three Chemistry is a full year course, of five topics, that works towards gaining 21 Level Three NCEA credits.

The Science Learning Area website provides an online learning environment students can use to revise their work and prepare for future learning. They will be able to complete quizzes, contribute to forums, access resources and receive important notices. The site is accessed by going to http://tinyurl.com/LCSciencePage.

Stationary Requirements: To ensure that students can access all course work during the year, particularly for the external standards, all notes and exercises are to be completed in a 1B8 Hardcover exercise book. workbook ‘Continuing Chemistry Workbook’ at a cost of $30.
