Linwood College is a family-oriented co-educational school where students from
New Zealand mix easily with others from Asia, Europe, the Pacific and South
America. Linwood College was founded in 1954 and has a roll of 1000 students.
Linwood College has a national reputation for its performing arts, music and
drama and sporting achievements. Our Adventure Education course is a unique
course for those who wish to experience New Zealand’s amazing scenery
and develop confidence, self management and leadership skills. Students also
choose academic subjects with this course.

Linwood College has excellent facilities which
include six Computer suites with Internet access for all students; a modern
Student Centre with a sit-down cafeteria; a fully stocked comfortable Library
for research and recreational reading; Music and Drama suites with specialist
teaching rooms; specialist Science laboratories; two gymnasiums, three tennis
courts and green playing fields.

All lessons are in English and Intensive English
classes are offered Beginner to Intermediate English plus NCEA level One and
Two and IELTS. These ESOL classes are small to ensure the student’s introduction
to the school is a success. Students are tested and individual programmes are
offered to students to suit their academic needs.

Linwood College is a signatory to the Ministry
of Education Code of Practice and the International Department received an outstanding
report from the Education Review Office for its pastoral care of International
Students. The Department has a full time homestay coordinator who works to ensure
students are happy in their accommodation. The accommodation fee is $200.00
per week and a placement fee of $300.00 is charged. All International students
are required to have health and travel insurance which can be arranged by the
school.

Linwood College is conveniently located, only five minutes on the bus to the
centre of Christchurch which has all the facilities and restaurants of any international
city. It is only ten minutes drive to the beautiful beaches of Sumner and Brighton.

Students are able to choose courses which will
lead to university study. Professional, fully qualified teachers are available
to assist students with their individual needs. Linwood College offers a friendly
family atmosphere where students are offered individual attention in a safe
and secure environment.

Fees for the Academic Year are $NZ10,500.00,
or $NZ5,800.00 for two terms and NZ$3,000.00 for one term.
