Student Centre

This modern, centrally located facility seats over 200 students and is serviced by a well stocked cafeteria containing foods ranging from hot soups, noodles, filled potatoes and pies to sandwiches, rolls, cakes and drinks.


Library

The Library contains three separate teaching spaces and provides an excellent area for research, study and general reading. It offers an extensive range of modern fiction and non-fiction books as well as encyclopaedias, research texts and computers. There are a number of CD Roms available for specific research areas. Up-to-date magazines and a daily newspaper are also provided.


Computers

The school has six well-equipped computer rooms which are available to students at all levels. Linwood is networked and all students have their own email address once they are enrolled. Students can use these facilities for their school work and to access the internet.


Music and Drama

There are a number of music practise rooms and excellent opportunities to learn new instruments. The specialist drama suite has an extensive range of costumes for use in the school and class productions.


Gymnasium

There are two gymnasia and a modern fitness room for training. Students are encouraged to use the gymnasia for basketball and volleyball during lunchtimes and after school.


Wharenui

The Whare Matau-ranga is the Maori centre of the school. Consisting of a traditional entranceway with impressive carvings, classroom, kitchen/dining room and toilet block, this facility is used both for learning and as a base for the Whanau Support Group.


Careers’ Resource Centre

Three full time staff welcome students to the Careers’ Centre to assist students with career advice, work experience, information on scholarships and tertiary study, as well as providing a student employment service and work-based training programmes through the Gateway Programme.


Health Suite

A full time nurse is located in these specialist rooms. The school doctor and Physiotherapist is available once a week on site.


Photographic Developing Rooms

A full developing suite with modern equipment is available for students in media and photography courses.


Media Editing Suite

Students choosing Media as a subject have excellent equipment for editing and publishing work. Digital cameras, digital videos and complete editing machines are available. Award winning newspaper and radio programmes are produced using this equipment.
