My Experiences of Linwood College by International Student Felix Oeser

Linwood College made my high school year in New Zealand one of the most enjoyable times in my life.

I believe Linwood is the perfect school for international students who want to experience a very exciting and different year away from home.

I studied at Linwood College for three years. It was one of the most wonderful times in my life and I enjoyed the important school life.

When I came to New Zealand　for the first time, I was fifteen years old. I still remember how anxious I was when I arrived in this country, because I could not speak English very well. It seemed almost impossible to survive in this very different culture and study in ‘Non-mother tongue’ language.

In 2002 I came to Linwood College. I sat the NZQA bursary exams to get my University Entrance.

The subjects I took were English, Accounting, Economics, Maths with Calculus and Maths with Statistics. I successfully passed the IELTS English test to meet the University requirements. I worked hard and was supported by the ESOL and subject teachers while I attended Linwood College. I benefited because Linwood College has a Chinese Maths teacher and also had a Chinese teacher aide.

This is my sixth year in Christchurch, it is a beautiful city for studying and living. In my first year I studied at Linwood College, l loved it at Linwood College. I enjoyed every bit of it and all of the teachers were really supportive.

After I left Linwood College I took three years to finish my double major undergraduate degree in Economics and Management Science. Those three years were peaceful and certainly learnt while I attended Canterbury University.

When I was studying at Linwood College, the subjects I chose were Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Economics, Accounting, and IELTS.

I found Calculus, Statistics and Physics easy, as they were quite similar to what I've studied before, and I could pick them up quickly. Economics and Accounting were harder, I have never touched these subjects before.
