Uniform

All Students in Years 9 – 12 must wear the full school uniform

The Linwood College Uniform is available from Linwood College only.

STUDENTS MUST HAVE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

  • Boys: Linwood College regulation trousers - Trousers must be standard school cut and worn at an appropriate length.
  • Girls: Regulation tartan skirt must be worn below the knee.
  • Boys: Shirt (long or short sleeve versions available) - student choice of grey and/or black.
  • Girls: Regulation blouse.
  • Regulation black jacket - water proof.  
  • Black socks (3/4 length) or knee-highs (Girls/Boy) or tights (Girls only).
  • Plain black enclosed shoes appropriate for school.  Lace-ups and McKinlay’s or Rachel style T Bars only.
  • Guernsey with Linwood College Logo.


ALTERNATIVE UNIFORM OPTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Linwood College regulation shorts for boys or girls.
  • Woollen Scarf - Royal Stewart tartan or plain black or plain grey.
  • Plain grey beanie (to be worn outdoors in Terms 2 & 3 only).
  • Plain black cap (to be worn outdoors in Term 1 & 4 only).
  • Year 11 and 12 students may wear the full school formal dress uniform as an alternative to the school uniform.
  • Year 13 students must be in mufti appropriate for school or wear the full school formal dress uniform.


THE FOLLOWING UNIFORM REGULATIONS APPLY TO ALL STUDENTS:

  • Hair colour must be one natural colour.
  • Only school badges may be worn with the uniform.
  • Boys must be clean shaven.
  • Jewellery
    -  One plain stud or sleeper is permitted in each ear.
- No other piercings that can be seen are permitted.
    - Up to two items of light jewellery may be worn (eg watch, taonga).
  • No bandanas to be worn.
  • Head bands /hairclips:  Only plain black or grey can be worn.  
  • No makeup allowed (includes nail polish).

PHYSICAL EDUCATION / SPORTS UNIFORMS

All Year 9 students must wear the school PE uniform purchased from the Uniform Office

  • Green Shirt with Linwood College Logo .
  • Black Shorts with Linwood College Logo.
  • Sports socks.
  • Sneakers.

Physical Education attire for senior students must involve a change of clothes into sports wear (no jeans).
All Linwood sports teams must wear the full sports uniform during all games. This includes plain black shorts unless the team uniform indicates otherwise.

The Uniform Shop offers a sales, order and purchase service for second hand and all new uniform items. These are available at reasonable rates. The Uniform Shop is based at the end of the quad and is open during school hours. Any items to be sold must be washed and pressed. Items can be brought to the Uniform Shop with a contact name, address and phone number attached.  The school retains 20% of the sale price as commission.


Year 13 Dress Code

Year 13 students are able to wear any of the following:

  • Standard school uniform.
  • Dress uniform.
  • Tidy mufti.


GENERAL GUIDELINES:

  • ‘‘Dress up, not down’.
  • Do not wear anything that would embarrass yourself, your family or your school.
  • Clothing must cover the middle of the body. ie. no midriff showing.
  • Aim for a standard of dress which reflects pride in oneself and the school.

EXPECTATIONS

Year 13 students are leaders in the school and as such are expected to act as good role models for other students.

This includes adhering to the dress code.

No dress items should:

  • Be ripped.
  • Be dirty.
  • Have slogans or offensive language.
  • Be excessively revealing.

Also:

  • No bandanas.
  • Boys must be clean shaven.
  • Hair colour must be one natural colour.
  • Appropriate jewellery.
  • No facial piercings.
  • Light makeup may be worn.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION / SPORTS UNIFORMS

Appropriate Dress for Specific Circumstances.

All Students are expected to dress appropriately when representing the school. 

  • All Linwood College sports teams must wear the full sports uniform during all games. This includes plain black shorts unless the "team uniform indicates otherwise.

  • Students must also wear appropriate clothing and footwear in workshops, laboratories,

    Home Economics room and other specialist subject areas, for safety reasons.


Uniform Shop Opening Hours 2012

  • Term 1 to 4, Tuesdays and Thursdays open from 3 to 5pm, Wednesdays open from 7:30am to 8:30am
  • Other times by appointment
